A Message from the Chairman

Welcome to our Tenth Annual celebration of the Arts in Western New York and in a larger sense, a celebration of all of our Creative Spirits. The Creative Spirit is what leads to many good things - from the wheel to love. We hope the Festival helps to feed your Creative Spirit in many ways; from elegantly fired Raku pottery to paintings of local landscapes, from solar powered smoothies to composting, from good old fashion Rock n Roll to jugglers to African drumming, from giant puppets to tales of far off lands to wooden blocks, stacked by children, representing little worlds.

Fueling your Creative Spirit helps to make Western New York a better place for all of us to live. Get involved and create a better reality. Move your feet and arms. Make a friend. Ask someone to dance. Volunteer for a cause. Support your local economy. Eat local food. Sing.

Let the party begin!

Joe DiPasquale

Our Mission

The Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts mission is to foster growth in, and awareness of, Western New York's artistic and cultural treasures and improve the fabric of our unique urban environment.

Goals

To give regional artists, crafts people, musicians, arts organizations and community groups a family-oriented venue in which to present their work, and to help foster the creation and growth of these grassroots enterprises.

Create a children's festival that celebrates and educates through the Arts. Offering hands-on art projects, some collaborative, that bring together children of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

Commission and fund public art, tree plantings, and other beautifi cation projects.

Highlight the richness of the Elmwood Village stores, restaurants, and people.

We plan on accomplishing this by seeking regional artists and developing marketplaces for them in cooperation with neighborhood businesses, regional arts organizations, galleries, colleges and universities, and our sponsors.

We feel that providing such a venue is an economic development tool for the neighborhood, city, region, and state.
